SHOCKING new statistics reveal that Toowoomba drivers are the second worst in the state for merging; only being beaten by Brisbane.
RACQ statistics showing the 20 worst locations for merging reveal that Toowoomba is sitting in the second spot with 177 bad merge claims in the past 12 months.
Brisbane’s CBD had 407 claims and Fortitude Valley had 167.
It may not come as a shock to Toowoomba motorists, with merging being listed in RACQ’s top 10 frustrating behaviours of 2017.
Tailgating was the number one pet peeve on Queensland and Toowoomba roads for a second year in a row.
Motorists who aren’t courteous, allowing room to merge or change lanes, also earn people’s ire.
Last month a video was shared of bad merging at its finest, with Gary Hamilton capturing the moment an impatient driver hits another car on the Toowoomba Range.
He shared the footage on the Toowoomba Traffic Alerts Facebook page this morning.
The video shows Mr Hamilton and a female driver heading down the range when a RAV4 in front of them attempts to merge from the left to right lane to avoid travelling behind a truck.
The male driver of the RAV4 doesn’t appear to see the Ford Laser and hits the car as he attempts his manoeuvrer.
The driver quickly moves back into the right lane.
