A Brisbane man who posted explicit images of a woman on Facebook after she ended their relationship, even threatening to send some to her grandfather, has dodged jail time.

Justin Martin William McShane pleaded guilty to three charges, including unlawful stalking, when he fronted the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Thursday.

The court heard the pair began a relationship in August 2016 but it ended when the woman called things off in a lengthy text message in late February.

After this, it was heard the 27-year-old kept calling and messaging the woman, including 70 times on a single day, with the content escalating into abuse.

In early March, the woman received a screenshot of McShane’s Facebook status showing five pictures of her, including a selfie in lingerie and a close up of her vagina.

The court heard she received about 50 messages from friends and unknown people alerting her to the explicit pictures being posted, as well as a message from McShane threatening to show them to her grandfather.

It was also heard McShane posted indecent material to a Facebook group called “Aussie Man Cave”, which has hundreds of subscribers.

A duty lawyer acting for McShane said the Forest Lakes man was “deeply remorseful”, had battled drug addiction in his past and suffered from bipolar disorder.

He later told Magistrate Suzette Coates he and the woman hadn’t been “boyfriend and girlfriend” and he’d lapsed back into drug use during their association.

The magistrate took his mental health issues and full-time employment into account, but said his conduct had been “controlling, manipulative and aggressive” and the content of his messages was “despicable”.
