THE president of the Mackay Golf Club has left “pissed off” after the club was burgled overnight.
Between the hours of 1:30pm and 2am, burglars have broken into the complex taking club equipment and a white Toyota Hilux with Mackay Golf Club logos on the side.
President Colin Meng said he was notified about 12:40am Thursday and has been at the club since the early hours of the morning cleaning up the mess left by the burglars and assisting police.
It’s the damage they’ve actually done is actually the worrying part, he said.
Mr Meng believes they broke into the workshops first, taking sledge hammers and other equipment, before breaking into the office area.
“They came through, bashed doors down with the sledgehammer, they have done considerable damage to our building and our premise and that’s the sad bit,” he said.
Mr Meng said the break and enter was disappointing.
“A lot of committee people and members of our club put a lot of effort into making this place something we are proud of and when we come in in the morning and it’s trashed… it’s not very pleasant.”
