LABOUR hire company WorkPac Group has warned scammers are using fake online job advertisements to collect personal details.
Workpac posted a warning about fake Gumtree ads on its Facebook page in recent days, which it has also spread more widely as a social media advertisement.
The company has urged jobseekers to double check the positions they’re applying for aren’t dodgy.
“If a recruiters email doesn’t include the company’s email address and phone, it’s a good bet that it’s a scam,” the warning reads.
“WorkPac are currently receiving reports of scammers on Gumtree.
“The scammers are posting fake jobs and then asking job seekers to fill in WorkPac paperwork and email it back to them.”
Workpac advised of one red flag in particular: Scammers do not have access to a WorkPac email address.
“Never send your personal details to a recruiter without an email address that ends in @workpac.com,” the post advises.
Think you’re looking at a fake advertisement? WorkPac can be contacted for clarification on 1300 967 572.
Fake ads can also be reported to the ACCC’s Scamwatch page.
