Pope Tawadros II, the Patriarch of the Coptic Orthodox Church, has touched down in Sydney for his first visit to Australia since being ordained in 2012.
A queue of bishops and priests on Wednesday greeted His Holiness at Sydney Airport to demonstrate the support of Australia’s Coptic community which is the third largest outside of Egypt.
Pope Tawadros II is on a 10-day pastoral tour during which he’ll visit churches and schools in Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra.
The Pope says during his trip he’ll be “thanking Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull for good relations”.
